Lesbian artist Lisa Witzke makes her solo gallery debut at ERUUF this September with her mixed media collection, “In A Moment, This is What Came.” Inspired by our LGBTQIA+ ancestors, she honors 12 almost forgotten trail blazers and warriors that came before us in this intricate and thoughtful collection.
"These pieces come from somewhere outside myself as well as somewhere deep inside my soul," said Witzke. "They were sitting in my studio knocking at the door to get out. Our lives are woven together by the commonality of our experience of being queer."
A lifelong artist, Lisa Witzke is always creating and expressing herself through collage, paint, food, pottery and human connection.
Mother, wife, daughter, artist, healer, nature lover, lesbian, scavenger, collector of the unexpected, open-hearted warrior.
My medium has taken on many evolutions over the years. Watercolor, acrylic, pottery, collage, encaustic, pastels, paper sculpture, cooking, dancing, building and loving.
I have been an artist my entire conscious life. Always creating and expressing myself through dance, paint, pottery, food and human connection. I have discovered late in life the burning need to create more art, to find creative expression in my solitude. It is time for me to share my art and let the world see a little bit of the light that is inside of me.
